“Who is the owner of Stormbreaker?” asks Theodoros Fotiadis. It’s a rhetorical question, since he designed the megayacht. “The owner will go undaunted where only the bold dare; conquer the elements, explore the world, and experience the exhilaration and tranquility of global yachting first hand.” Available in two sizes, and ready to build according to SuperYachtsMonaco, Stormbreaker intends to take you from the Arctic Circle to the Polynesian Islands.
Fotiadis started his career working for Stocker Yacht, a Fort Lauderdale-based service and restoration firm. Since establishing T. Fotiadis Design in 2007, he’s created a number of design concepts. Stormbreaker came to the attention of Jim Evans, founder of SuperYachtsMonaco. “The concept incorporates all of the elements that thrill- and solace-seeking clients look for,” he says. These include “a bottomless toy chest,” Evans continues. Plus, she has “efficient propulsion, long-range capability,” and of course luxury amenities open to choice.
Further to that point, Fotiadis says he welcomes customer creativity for the styling and layout. As mentioned above, the project is available in either a 295-foot (90-meter) or 377-foot (115-meter) length. Relaxation areas, meanwhile, can include a cigar lounge, a library, an observation deck, and of course dining areas, a beach club, a spa-gym combination, and a tender garage, capable of holding a submarine. Stormbreaker additionally has a glass atrium, ideal for enjoying icy or tropical scenery. A heli hanger is possible, too.
However, Stormbreaker’s technical backbone, which includes diesel-electric propulsion, is set. Regardless of commissioning the 295-footer, for a maximum party of 14, or the 377-footer, for a similar or larger head count, the megayacht will meet standards for operating in polar extremes as well.
Even if you enjoy going off the grid, Fotiadis says, you’ll still appreciate having an interactive AV system, from Icon Connect, onboard. Specifically, the system will let you record, and even live stream, footage of extraordinary experiences, such as whale sightings or glacier calving.
