It already has a sales presence in the United States. Now, the Ferretti Group has a dedicated service shipyard. The Group is acquiring part of Lauderdale Marine Center in Fort Lauderdale to handle maintenance and refits.
The Ferretti Group, which includes brands such as CRN, Custom Line, Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Riva, and Wally, has made the move due to significant sales. In fact, Alberto Galassi, the CEO for the Ferretti Group, says the United States is “a fast-growing market that gave us great satisfaction last year.” He continues, “The orders for 2020 confirm this trend.”
The area within Lauderdale Marine Center encompasses 43,056 square feet (4,000 square meters). Besides indoor and outdoor work areas, the new service space has a warehouse. The Ferretti Group intends to use it to store materials needed for refit and service works, as well as spare parts. The parts will be for all American customers, too, shipped directly from each of its Italy-based builders’ properties. Finally, the acquisition includes five docks.
Lauderdale Marine Center is the biggest dedicated yacht service and repair facility in Florida. It is among the largest in the United States, too. Situated on the New River, it has 20 class-certified contractors on site. Additionally, another 200 authorized contractors are off site. Collectively, they represent the major trades for every maintenance and refit project.
Yet a further benefit: In 2017, Lauderdale Marine Center became the first yachting-specific foreign trade zone in the United States. This designation permits importing goods without paying import duties, which typically get passed along to customers.
