The 120-foot (36.5-meter) Secret Love has been in her owners’ hands for more than a decade. Focused on family cruising, the megayacht has led to treasured time onboard over all these years. To ensure they could spend even more time together out on the water this coming summer, Secret Love has spent the past seven months undergoing an extensive refit at Dunya Yachts.
Understandably, the crew of Secret Love has kept her in what Dunya Yachts terms “immaculate” shape. Nevertheless, given her 30-year age, the megayacht required some extra TLC, besides needing some more modern touches. Her paint, for example, was starting to show some wear. Since this required hauling her out of the water, the owners compiled a longer, thorough to-do list. For one, the engine room became a big focus. The shipyard upgraded the stabilization system, plus replaced equipment ranging from the gensets and water heaters to the air-conditioning system. Because so much machinery was overhauled or swapped out, parts of the engine room that dated back to her original build got a once-over. The full engine room received a fresh coat of paint, too.
Additionally, Secret Love now has an entirely new lighting system, all LEDs. The captain has a new suite of electronics to rely upon in the wheelhouse as well.
The extensive refit didn’t only focus on technical areas, however. In fact, alfresco guest areas received refreshed looks. Finally, the teak decks throughout the yacht were replaced.
With such extensive worklists, refits like this can run into unexpected delays. What no one expected, of course, was the global health crisis. This required re-arranging traditional work patterns, plus adjust to late shipments of equipment. “Under very difficult conditions, the yard has managed to complete works and launch the yacht with only a minimum of delay,” asserts Stephen Warren, director of Sorren Yacht, which manages the yacht on behalf of the owners.
Therefore, Secret Love remains relatively close to her original redelivery schedule. She should be back in her owners’ hands, in fact, in mid-June.
