Seeing Clearly: Haze Has Horizons in Sight

From her 258-square-foot (24-square-meter) flying bridge to her long, open aft deck, as well as her Audi-inspired Daytona Gray paint scheme, Haze stands out from other small megayachts.

When she launched in August, the owner’s representative said, “We are confident the yacht will provide some fantastic experiences.” Those experiences primarily center around the aft deck. Instead of having a traditional, cockpit-like aft deck, Haze, as an Extra 86 semi-custom project, has a much bigger social area. Extra Yachts’ philosophy, in fact, is providing extra-big social areas, along with cruising autonomy. Therefore, the aft deck encourages the owner and the guests to spend the full day outside, which nearly everyone wants to do anyway when on the water.

The entire three-level aft area encompasses more than 538 square feet (50 square meters). It extends from the glass door to the swim platform, too. A lot of the activity will involve movies. The owner of Haze asked for a projector so that the area could become an outdoor cinema at nighttime. Just as special, the alfresco dining area is directly next to the galley—even though you may not realize it. In the video, keep an eye out for the large, automatically opening window that lets the crew serve meals with ease.

Functional features like these, created with designer Francesco Guida, complement a penthouse-like interior ambiance, as per the owner’s wishes. The owner and Robb Lawson together make the main saloon of Haze especially airy. All eight passengers can enjoy each other’s company on the C-shape settee. Furthermore, they can take formal means at the dining table just forward. Both day and night, the large ports and the nearly see-through solar panels overhead convey being one with the surroundings. (Those solar panels, by the way, help power the lighting as well as other hotel needs.)
