The name Alpha Yachts may not ring a bell. But, founders and brothers Roberto and Jorge Aboumrad foresee the megayacht builder gaining a foothold in the American market. Furthermore, they foresee the Alpha Spritz 102 appealing to buyers who don’t want to wait for a build slot for a stylish cruiser.
Alpha Yachts handles all construction in Turkey. The Aboumrad brothers’ personal yachting experience, plus 30 years’ experience as yacht brokers, guides production. Specifically, they represent Azimut, Benetti, Ferretti Yachts, and Custom Line in Mexico. They decided to take on yacht building under their own brand name, however, in 2015. Since that time, Alpha Yachts has launched a 106 and a 125, both featuring handiwork by H2 Yacht Design.
The Alpha Spritz 102, represented by Merle Wood & Associates, reflects how they like to live, but also how most cruisers do. Styling is by Giorgio Cassetta, best known for his collaboration with Benetti. Naval architecture, meanwhile, is from Laurent Giles Naval Architects. Roberto Aboumrad is quick to point out that collectively, they decided on traditional tank tests, not computerized tests, in the design phase. While computerized analysis is trustworthy, they didn’t want to do it because “we’re the new guy on the block,” he explains.
Equipped with twin 1,100-hp Caterpillars, the Alpha Spritz 102 should top out at 14 knots. Furthermore, she should see a 2,500-nautical-mile range at 10 knots. That’s plenty to get your party of 12 to a quiet anchorage, where you can put her vast swim platform to abundant use. It’s perhaps the most noticeable feature about this five-stateroom (one with a Pullman berth) megayacht. Even with her uber-chic interior design, she convinces you to gravitate toward the platform, spanning the 26’6″ (8.1-meter) beam, too. The Alpha 102 Spritz can stow a tender here, of course. But, most owners surely will want to keep it wide open as the ultimate waterside play platform. Given the plunge pool nestled into the aft deck just above, it’s perfect for keeping multiple generations and/or multiple friends and family engaged with one another.
The Alpha Spritz 102 is currently in the Bahamas, available for private showings. In the meantime, Alpha Yachts has three projects in build, additionally all under contract. They range from a 102 to a 145.
