Superyacht builders aren’t the only ones fielding inquiries for larger craft. Tender builders do, too. In fact, that’s the reason why the Onda 371GT exists.
Specifically, “We had requests for a larger version of the 331GT,” according to George Riginos, Onda Tenders’ CEO. That 33-foot (10-meter) tender had a healthy beam for her LOA, nearly 11 feet (3.25 meters). So, Riginos adds, it was only natural that the manufacturer decided to create a longer hull, for more usable space. “The 371GT has since replaced the original model,” Riginos also says.
The Onda 371GT comes in at 36’4” (11.1 meters) and can carry 12 passengers. Additionally, the tender suits use as both a day cruiser and a chase boat. Her fiberglass hull has two ventilated steps to boost performance and Seating spreads out both fore and aft of the helm console, plus a sunpad is fully aft, by the twin outboards. Since the tender has a 9’7” (2.95-meter) beam, the customizable seating and overall arrangement avoids feeling cramped.
Interestingly, Riginos says the owners and captain of the first 371GT, who has a 184-foot (56-meter) Turquoise megayacht, wanted a crew berth onboard. It was for convenience “when in full charter mode, which ruled out inboard engines that would have taken up too much room,” he continues. Therefore, with Mannerfelt Design Team, Onda Tenders created the sunpad to lift for berth access. Furthermore, there’s 5’6” (1.7-meter) headroom beneath the sunpad.
As for power, this particular hull has 300-hp Oxe outboards. Oxe manufactures high-performance diesel outboards, which the captain and crew will refuel from the megayacht’s own tanks. Besides that being important to them, it was further important to be able to tow the tender behind her mothership. Note that you can specify your brand preference for inboards or outboards.
Even though this tender is Onda’s biggest, she won’t remain that way for long. A 46-foot (14-meter) model is in the works. Some custom designs are, too.
