Personal submarines have become more popular aboard megayachts over the past decade or so. But, they’re more than just toys. They open up a world of possibilities to owners, guests, and even crew. Patrick Lahey of Triton Submarines has seen their reactions first-hand. Furthermore, he himself continues to marvel at the wonders laying beneath the ocean’s surface even four decades after he first went diving.
In this episode of our Megayacht News Radio podcast, we speak at length with Lahey about:
- how he turned his personal passion for diving into a profession in the manned-submersibles field
- whether Triton Submarines buyers and guests need any special training or preparation before their first dive
- what changes have taken place in the years between when superyacht owners first began buying Triton Submarines’ craft and now
- how he personally has been involved in some record-breaking, historic dives to the deepest part of the world’s oceans, and what the experience was like.
