How do you launch a yacht whose name is Opera? You do it with an opera singer onboard, naturally. The American soprano Elizabeth Winn serenaded Lürssen’s Opera as the superyacht slipped out of her build shed.
Coming in at 479 feet (146 meters), the superyacht shows off acres of teak decking. Two helipads—one occupying the foredeck—make owner and guest arrivals and departures extra private. Further alfresco features include a main-deck pool, just visible behind Winn as she sings throughout much of the video. Yet another pool sits fully forward on the uppermost deck. Additionally, the yacht appears to contain a beach club, given a large fold-down terrace with two sets of oval ports below decks aft.
Few facts are available about Lürssen’s Opera, though, since she largely remains under a publicity embargo. Therefore the design studios of record for interior design and styling are unconfirmed. The same is true of interior amenities. Regardless, given the long deck overhangs and minimal exposed relaxation areas, the yacht doesn’t seem as if she’ll host much of the usual Med and Caribbean sun-worshipping.
The launch this month allows the vessel to move into outfitting stage. For perspective, the last time yacht watchers saw Lürssen’s Opera, it was early 2021. The then code-named Project Opera made a move from one construction shed to another at the shipyard. She was still a bare steel hull and superstructure at the time.
Delivery may take place either later this year or early next year. In the meantime, Lürssen continues construction on several other private yachts, several exceeding the 100-meter (330-foot) mark.
