Yacht owners start out as yacht watchers, people who are fascinated by cruising and the varying craft making the lifestyle possible. Inevitably, too, yacht watchers who set their minds to becoming yacht owners daydream about arriving in style aboard their vessel. It’s no surprise, then, that one particular shipyard, Lürssen, is asking its legions of fans and clients the question: How would you arrive on a Lürssen yacht? The shipyard team isn’t just posing a query, however. It’s actively seeking answers with an engaging YouTube video.
Just as owners of all sorts of yachts have different preferences, the video highlights a few inspiring ways to arrive. As you’ll see, the footage unfolds with a few owners who each use a different method. The most traditional way, of course, is aboard a tender, allowing deck-to-deck drop off. But, if you have a grand yacht, why not choose grand style? Another owner does exactly that, with a Jet Suit, from the UK-based company Gravity. (A Gravity Jet Suit allows human flight via patented technology and a custom-made design, starting at £380,000, or about $458,000 at press time.)
Those aren’t the only options available, of course. Sporty, thrill-seeking owners might choose the super-fast, high-performance Belassi PWCs. They reportedly can top out upwards of 70 mph. If that’s just a little too fast, no problem. Follow the lead of the owners arriving via SeaBobs or wakeboard.
Notably, within hours of the video posting this past week, viewers had their own answers as to how they’d arrive. Some of the answers so far are pretty creative, too. A few people, for instance, reference personal submarines. Yet another person opts for one of the most customized tenders imaginable, what he describes as a pickup truck and a boat in one. Meanwhile, someone else writes, “I’d parachute onto it in my speedos and land in the pool.”
Finally, in true sarcastic (even snarky) fashion as is common online, a viewer writes, “Overly and unnecessarily dramatic. No one is arriving with a jet pack in a cocktail dress. Only the limousine boat is feasible; the others would have already arrived to use the toys they were using. And you didn’t even opt for a helicopter.”
So, tell us: How would you arrive on a Lürssen yacht?
