Following in the nomenclature footsteps of massive megayachts like O’Pari in 2020 and O’Ptasia in 2018, Golden Yachts is presenting the O’Rea yacht concept. What’s more, the Greek builder seeks to entice owners who treasure intricate, elaborate details. Upwards of 250 finishes, woods, marbles, stones, and other materials can lend her luxe looks.
With an LOA of 252’6” (77 meters), the yacht features styling and interiors by Vafiadis Design. Giorgio Vafiadis has partnered with Golden Yachts on a handful of custom yachts so far. In fact, they worked on the 279-foot (85-meter) O’Ptasia, the 310-foot (94.6-meter) O’Pari, and the 173-foot (52.7-meter) O’Neiro. In profile, the O’Rea yacht concept is far sleeker, sportier, and more contemporary than her O-themed predecessors. Each of those struck a more traditional-white-yacht pose.
Further interior contributions for the new project come from Massari Design. Just like Vafiadis Design, this studio and shipyard are familiar with each other. They paired for Project X, a yacht started elsewhere and finished at the Greek yard. With O’Rea, they’re outfitting eight staterooms for the owners and their guests with the above-mentioned finishes and materials. So, too, will relaxation areas like the upper-deck lounge reveal high style. Notably, the concept design calls for a Lasvit glass chandelier, which should be as much an art piece as it is a functional feature. A piano in the lounge, home-theater-like TV, and custom-designed sound system will let the lounge host karaoke as easily as movie nights.
For mind and body relaxation, meanwhile, the designers and builder believe the well-outfitted spa should do the trick. It includes a Finnish sauna, a Turkish hammam, and a massage room. The spa is just one highlight of the beach club—which Golden Yachts calls a beach house, for its features. Another is the skylight in the lounge area, the glass bottom of the pool directly above. Yet another glass-bottomed pool sits on the highest deck, the sundeck. It spills light down through the stairway connecting each deck.
Although Golden Yachts hasn’t revealed the intended propulsion package, projects such as O’Rea typically cruise between 10 and 14 knots. Of course, they have transatlantic range, too.
Lastly, if the name rings a bell for you, it’s probably because Golden Yachts worked on a same-named yacht more than a decade ago. In 1998, it acquired a 138-footer (42-meter) that dated back to 1982 and refitted her.
