Like so many yacht owners, the young couple who commissioned the first Outer Reef 830 Classic Motoryacht wanted more space. Further like a lot of owners, they returned to the builder that they believed understood their cruising needs best.
This new megayacht model is part of the shipyard’s X Class line and a version of the 800 Classic Motoryacht (below). All X Class projects have a beam of 21 feet (6.4 meters). The owners had cruised aboard an Outer Reef 700 Classic Motoryacht, which has an 18’6” (5.63-meter) beam. Wishing for extra entertainment space, yet still wanting to enjoy long-range cruising, they started a conversation with the shipyard team.
Among the amenities the couple gained with their Outer Reef 830 Classic Motoryacht is an open-plan saloon and dining area. Seating six, the table makes going from conversations to pre-dinner cocktails seamless. The saloon features a large, U-shape settee, making the space extra social. Still social, and similar to the smaller Outer Reef projects, the galley and helm are open to one another, too. Since Outer Reef clients overwhelmingly like to take the wheel themselves, this allows them to feel part of the shared cruising and togetherness experience. Also along those lines, an observation settee with table (or a route-planning table, as the case may be) is adjacent to the helm. Yet another nice touch, barstools accompany the galley island, which is stone-topped with a waterfall edge.
More space means more flexible areas as well. Specifically, the Outer Reef 830 Classic Motoryacht has a fourth stateroom below decks that instead can be a crew cabin. Additionally, if owners prefer that stateroom to accommodate guests, they can convert a set-aside laundry room into a crew cabin with a bunk berth.
Regardless of the layout decisions, the standard décor includes walnut wood throughout the living areas (similar to another Outer Reef seen below). It holds exceptionally traditional appeal and sets a warm setting.
The couple’s new yacht is undergoing final commissioning in Fort Lauderdale, having arrived stateside from the shipyard recently. Once they take delivery, they should enjoy a top speed of 23 knots.
