As much as megayacht owners commission one-of-a-kind furnishings, sometimes the simplest solutions are the most popular. Take, for instance, the Karin series folding director’s chair. Don’t be fooled. This isn’t an off-the-shelf item from a local home-good store. Instead, the Karin series, along with the similarly styled Smeralda series, is a yacht-specific deck chair from the Italian company Sanguineti. The chairs have been in demand for more than six decades, in fact, with no signs of stopping.
Each Karin series folding director’s chair is handmade, of course, of mahogany. A rich, traditional mahogany finish is available, as is a teak look, among other choices. The chairs are primarily aboard superyachts from 131 to 262 feet (40 to 80 meters), therefore a healthy segment of the market. Additionally, and new for this season, Sanguineti is offering the Limited Edition Total Black, in a maatte-black finish.
Whatever color you choose, Sanguineti can put your yacht’s name and logo on the backrest and/or seat, too.

So, for instance, you’ll learn about a special delivery from superyacht-tender maker Ocean 1, to the Sarasota Police Department of Sarasota, Florida. (Suffice it to say criminals don’t stand a chance: The boat can hit upwards of 73 mph.) You’ll also learn about how ISA Yachts is starting hull number three of its ISA 80 series on spec. Plus, we tell you about the newest delivery from Cantiere delle Marche, a Darwin 86 for an American owner.
