Details are scant, but a fully custom Baglietto 56-meter yacht (184-footer) is set to start construction. The owner came straight to the shipyard with “very clear ideas,” according to Fabio Ermetto, the chief commercial officer.
In fact, the owner knew exactly what he wanted the profile and the interior to look like. Similarly, he had particular performance characteristics in mind. The studio Enrico Gobbi – Team for Design is responsible for both the exterior styling and the interior design. Carlo Lionetti, an independent designer, is partnering with it for the interiors, too. (On an interesting side note, Lionetti formerly was a director of the studio.)
Although interior renderings aren’t available, the Baglietto 56-meter yacht will have an upper-deck master suite. Naturally, the owner has a private alfresco area, sitting forward. He and his guests will enjoy a spa, contained within a gym, on the lower deck. Conveniently, the gym connects straight out to the beach area. Here, the guests can soak in a recessed pool.
On the technical side, meanwhile, the custom Baglietto 56-meter project has a pair of Caterpillar engines. Top end should be 16½ knots, and transatlantic journeys will be no issue at an economical cruising speed around 10 knots.
What makes this custom superyacht special is the shipyard’s recent history. Baglietto, which just celebrated its 170th anniversary, has of course built custom yachts previously. However, it has been focusing more efforts on its series builds. One of these is the Baglietto T52 range, which just saw hull number four, the yacht Dopamine, launch this summer. Additionally, Baglietto has the DOM range, midsize megayachts with big volumes for more family-focused travel. The Baglietto DOM 133 series in particular has been quite successful, seeing six launches so far.
“We are very excited about this new challenge,” Ermetto says. He credits Baglietto’s position as “a boutique shipyard” plus its “great flexibility” with helping to attract the customer.
No keel-laying date is available for publicity as of yet. Neither is the anticipated launch or delivery date.
