The owners of the yacht Tremenda haven’t even begun cruising, yet they’re delighted already with their explorer. They were just at Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) for the launch of their custom megayacht, previously code-named Project T. “We are extremely satisfied with Tremenda,” one of the owners says. “What impressed us most was CdM’s ability to deliver the yacht through a fine-tuned teamwork, where every member played their part with skill and dedication, always striving for excellence.”
The 148-footer (45-meter) went to contract in late 2021, with well more than a year of design refinement prior to that. The owners went through several iterations with Giorgio M. Cassetta, in fact, to finalize the styling. Consideration went into every aspect, from the nearly vertical bow to the dimensions of the ports and transom shape. “The execution by CdM was outstanding,” Cassetta says. He also says that the owners were clear in communicating what they wanted. They possessed “an obsessive attention to detail, proportions, functionality, and flow.” The entire experience was quite special, he adds. “I hold a deep affection for this remarkable project,” Cassetta asserts.
Besides conveying her globetrotting purpose with her profile, the yacht Tremenda pays strong attention to comfort. That comfort is for the crew as much as the guests. In fact, the owners ensured that the crew could go about their daily tasks as seamlessly as they themselves would move from room to room. Floor-to-ceiling windows make hallways and leisure areas light and bright, and no room is an afterthought.
Configuration-wise, the yacht Tremenda adheres to a tried-and-true stateroom placement. Specifically, four guest staterooms all sit below decks, while the master suite is full beam on the main deck. A cozy lounge area is in the owners’ area as well.
It all gets support from an oceans-tackling, full-displacement hull design by Hydro Tec. A longtime naval-architecture partner for CdM, the studio engineered the yacht for a best range of upwards of 4,000 nautical miles. Top speed, meanwhile, should be a still-leisurely 14½ knots, under MAN power.
“Building this fully custom explorer yacht has been both a complex and rewarding endeavor,” says Vasco Buonpensiere, CdM’s co-founder and CEO. He credits Cassetta’s creativity and attitude for further leading to the creation of the RAW yacht series, noting that the designer “pushed us to raise the bar and surpass our own limits” with Tremenda. Overall, thanks to the owners and all involved, Buonpensiere says, “Tremenda encapsulates CdM’s core values: vision, character, and true ocean-going capability.”
