Good things come in threes, as proven by the third contract signing for Cantiere delle Marche’s Flexplorer flagship. An American who’s passionate about fishing, among other things, recently signed the dotted line for a Flexplorer 165.
The deal is significant for a few reasons. Firstly, this is the third Flexplorer 165 yacht contract so far for the shipyard. Secondly, the deal represents the second Flexplorer 165 for an American. Finally, the owner is the third American this year to sign a contract overall with Cantiere delle Marche.
According to the shipyard, the owner has had other large yachts previously, and pursues an adventurous life with family. Watersports are pretty popular, for instance, which is why two tenders dedicated to fun at sea will be aboard. A third “tender,” specifically a Grady-White Freedom 285, will support the owner’s fishing trips. Grady-White has earned loyal buyers among avid anglers for decades for its boats’ performance in choppy seas and fishing amenities. Because the dual-console offshore boat is pretty hefty, Cantiere delle Marche is installing a 4.5-ton-capacity A-frame crane to launch and retrieve it.
Many of the other details about this 164-footer (49.9-meter) remain confidential for now. However, Giorgio M. Cassetta is handling interior design with the owner. Depending on the owner’s needs, up to six staterooms can accommodate the full family. If the owner chooses that number, one of the staterooms will actually be the skylounge, convertible upon necessity. Further convertible, a stateroom below decks can instead be a cozy lounge.

Although this Flexplorer 165 is the third in build at the yard, all three have different amenities and purposes. In fact, the other American customer plans to ace the competition with a pickleball court aboard (above). This requires extensive structural changes to the deck, including extending its overhang. Two viewing areas accompany it, too, one immediately adjacent and the other on the sundeck directly above. The first Flexplorer 165 is for a European client, who signed the contract early this year. While most of her features remain confidential, the owner does plan to offer her for charter. Regardless of features, all three have styling and naval architecture by Hydro Tec.
“I think that this commercial success, following an incredible boat-show season, stands as a testament to the trust and confidence the market has in our shipyard,” says Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and CEO of the yard.
