The weather may have been grey and rainy ahead of her launch, but the yacht Camila, with a bold sunburst design on her transom, brightened spirits last week. She splashed at Bilgin Yachts’ headquarters in Istanbul.

The yacht, a Bilgin 163, began on spec as the yacht Project AME. She’s the second in a series, which the design and build teams conceived to differentiate from similar-LOA offerings. For instance, according to Emrecan Özgün, Unique Yacht Design’s founder, her spaces overall are 20 percent larger than other megayachts in the 163-foot (48-meter) range. Additionally, although she features Caterpillar engines, her anticipated capabilities are more impressive than you might expect. Specifically, she should handle transatlantic crossings or longer voyages easily, since best range is 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
Profile-wise, the yacht Camila is sporty yet still sophisticated, with subtle coloration changes between her steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Inside, meanwhile, the owner was heavily involved with Hot Lab to tailor every corner to his tastes. After contract signing in 2023, the build and design teams gathered with FGI Yacht Group broker Frank Grzeszczak, Jr., the owners’ rep, to finalize the details. They particularly spent a lot of time finessing the interior. The owner wanted a combination of timeless grace and sophistication with modern appeal.

Although finishing touches are still going aboard, the yacht Camila reflects just a few of natural tones, like sand, cream, off-white, and light gray. Additionally, the interior design reflects intriguing details, such as chromed stainless steel, metal-mesh laminated glass, and mirrored surfaces. Furthermore, a mosaic of wood and stone characterize some of the floors. The intention is to catch guests’ attention and gradually reveal more as they take a closer look.
“I feel honored to have merged this partnership between an experienced and demanding client and Bilgin shipyard,” says Grzeszczak. “It has been nothing short of an exceptional experience.” The owner intends to enjoy a maiden voyage in the Med this summer, he continues. “She will undoubtedly turn heads,” he asserts.

Berkay Yılmaz, Bilgin Yachts’ commercial director, agrees. “The distinctive elegance of M/Y Camila will undoubtedly capture attention wherever she goes.” Finally, he notes, that the megayacht eventually will make her way to U.S. waters.
