Let’s face it, a traditional white yacht doesn’t suit everybody. Some of us are more inclined towards the nautically inspired Dolphin Blue, while others prefer the bold Venetian Red. Whatever your preference, from your superstructure to your hull and even to your bootstripe, a new online Alexseal color configurator puts myriad imaginative combinations at your fingertips.
In fact, the company says upwards of 1.7 million color combinations are possible. The colors to mix and match range from solids to metallics, and yes, Snow White is among them, too. Altogether, 121 solids and metallics are in the configurator.
While shipyards, designers, and experienced owners are accustomed to looking at color sample plates, the Alexseal color configurator makes choosing a hue quicker and easier. From picnic boats to superyachts, it has photorealistic images of vessels pre-loaded. All you have to do is select the area or areas you want to enhance, and the color instantly changes. What’s more, a 3D design lens to the right of the vessel image provides a closeup of the color on angles and other shapes.
We tested it out ourselves and found it intuitive—and addictive. Our favorite combination was a bright Lotus Green hull with a punchy Sunstone Red bootstripe and a Cloud White superstructure. If that’s not enough of a statement for you, though, consider Lambo Orange for the hull. Similarly, Gold Rush and the metallic Malaga Silver lend personality.
Yet another good feature built into the Alexseal color configurator, the system saves your color choices. So, for instance, you can easily imagine what your tender or other boats will look like. Just switch from Superyacht under Yacht Type to Motor Yacht, Picnic Boat, Sailing Yacht, or Sportfish, and the hues automatically carry over.
Whatever you ultimately select, you can receive an emailed PDF.
The configurator works on both desktop computers and mobile devices.
