For owners who alternately feel carefree and just chillaxin’, Columbus Yachts has a solution. It has just laid the keel for the first Columbus Crossover 48 yacht on spec. Just like crossovers in the automotive world have the cargo space of an SUV but with the comfort and more fuel-efficient ride of a sedan, she caters equally to chasing horizons and days of leisure at anchor.
The Columbus Crossover series inaugurated a few years ago. With styling and naval architecture by Hydro Tec, each model combines long-range looks and capabilities with luxury amenities. From the Crossover 42, which already has hull number one in the water, to the Crossover 47, which has hull number two in build for a client, each has a proven engineering platform, too. In fact, the Columbus Crossover 48 yacht shares some of the 47’s characteristics. These include a bulbous bow, a 28-foot (8.6-meter) beam, and 9-foot (2.75-meter) draft. Additionally, she should be able to cover 5,000 nautical miles on a single tank of fuel.

Whether that leads you to shores with palm trees or rugged coastlines, Columbus Yachts puts a lot under your feet. Amid the four decks, for instance, are accommodations for 12. Four staterooms can go below decks, while a full-beam VIP can sit on the main deck. Yet another possibility for the Columbus Crossover 48 yacht is three cabins below decks and two queen cabins on the main deck. Regardless, your suite, benefits from fantastic views one deck above that. Enjoy some private time before the rest of your family wakes up sitting in your alfresco lounge space.
Since construction has only just begun, the interior arrangement is completely tailorable, with your choice of designer, too. The same choices extend to the abundance of outdoor space. For example, while several Crossover clients like having a big pool nestled into the main aft deck, you can instead request the area hold a big tender.

The keel laying took place at the Savona, Italy shipyard belonging to Columbus Yachts’ parent company, Palumbo Superyachts. Construction will remain there for the next two years.
