It’s a familiar story: a longtime hull and superstructure contractor for superyacht builders decides to hang its own shingle. What sets Tureddi Yachts apart is its ongoing family ownership and immediate collaborations with well-known naval architects and designers.
Tureddi Yachts dates back about four decades. Besides building steel and aluminum hulls and superstructures, it also built full workboats and commercial vessels. As yachts become larger and in demand during the 1990s, renowned brands like Benetti, Codecasa, and Sanlorenzo relied on it as a supplier. In fact, it played a role in the completion of about 60 megayachts. Alessandro Tureddi, the son of the founder and currently the company’s head, believed the market would welcome it as a full-fledged yacht builder. Specifically, he believed it could compete in the 30-meter (98-foot) and up semi-custom segment, plus offer fully custom craft.
With a management team in London and facilities in Viareggio and Pisa, Italy, Tureddi Yachts began industry outreach in 2024. It found its first high-profile design partner last year, too. Perry Van Oossanen, Van Oossanen Naval Architects’ managing director, says he was impressed with the yard’s general arrangement for a 118-footer (36-meter) when he met the representatives at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show. As a result, Tureddi Yachts employs Van Oossanen’s fast-displacement hull form. Featuring a main-deck master suite plus styling and interiors by Giamboi Designs, the 118-footer was to be the first model in the Azzurra Series. That series, from 118 to 164 feet (36 to 50 meters) and all beneath 500 gross tons, still exists and welcomes broad client input. However, one particular customer wanted a far more tailored project, resulting in the fully custom Azzurra Linea36 (pictured).
Set for delivery in July 2027, “Linea reflects both continuity with our original vision and the unique trajectory of this model,” says Mauro Giamboi, Giamboi Designs’ founder. Creature comforts include fore and aft pools, for instance, plus a full tender garage. The master suite remains on the main deck, but also has a VIP suite on the upper deck. For performance, Perry van Oossanen says comfort versus speed was the priority. “This is far more than a stylist variation,” he explains. “The hull form, performance envelope, weight distribution, and internal volumes have all been re-engineered.”
The shipyard has yet another contract, for the first project in a separate series. The X350 yacht belongs to its X Series, from Yellow Addition Design Studio. She’s a sporty-looking 115-footer (35-meter) featuring a nearly 28-foot (8.5-meter) beam and engineered for leisurely cruising. Top speed should be 16 knots. Four guest staterooms and a main-deck master suite with a private terrace to starboard are among the amenities. Although no further details are available for what the owners selected, overall buyers have three décor packages from which to choose.
Finally, Tureddi Yachts has a handful of designs in the development stage. More details will come as they’re finalized.
