While the stars of the Milky Way galaxy emit light, the overall appearance of the band-like stretch in the sky is hazy, lending the cluster its name. There’s nothing hazy about the yacht Milky Way, however, which launched over the weekend at Feadship.
Bearing a crisp, clean white appearance from top to bottom, the megayacht remains largely confidential. The shipyard refers to the 294-footer (80.6-meter) by her hull number, Project 828, though publicly available information reveals her name. Feadship additionally has released quite limited information. It confirms a beam and draft of 44’8” (13.61 meters) and 12’1” (3.7 meters), respectively.

In terms of the design, according to Feadship, the prominent bow was a must-have for the owner from the start. In fact, an abundance of usable outdoor space was as important as ample ability to move throughout the interior areas. “We refined the language with a very strong vertical bow and an emphasis on the long structural lines of the deck,” explains Matt Bacon, a lead designer from the De Voogt design studio. Yet another exterior feature received as much attention. “The mast has a very strong character to balance the volumes of the superstructure,” Bacon says.
Overall, the owner of the yacht Milky Way envisioned the superyacht for changing needs. For instance, spaces needed to be more than just multi-function. They needed to be decidedly accommodating to both heavy activity by the guests and super-relaxing times.

Even though specifics on how alfresco areas and interior rooms deliver, Feadship does say that the yacht Milky Way has soft, graceful lines inside. RWD has been working with the owner to execute the look and feel.
On a related note, it’s been a busy spring so far for Feadship and RWD. The two are further collaborating for the soon-to-be-delivered yacht Project 1014. She just launched in April, and at 332 feet (101 meters), she’s one of the builder’s biggest boats to date. She’s one of the largest deliveries expected this year, too.
