Whether you’ve owned a yacht for a while or simply have been an admirer of the multitude of custom creations out there, no doubt you’ve come across the names Stanley and Peggy Bey. This American couple has owned a few megayachts over the years, most recently the 130-foot Broward Pegasus and the 147-foot Hakvoort Campbell Bay as well as other various-size yachts prior to that. It’s not just their ownership history that’s gotten them noticed–although 40 years of buying and commissioning yachts will definitely do that. Rather, it’s their generosity toward the craftspeople who make their cruising dreams possible. They proved their generous nature once again recently, throwing a thank-you party for 150 craftspeople at Hakvoort, which launched their newest baby, the 124’7″ Perle Bleue.
With naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design and an interior by Donald Starkey Designs, Perle Bleue definitely emphasizes spending time outdoors. She has an abundance of alfresco areas, including an oversize aft deck, in keeping with the Beys’ lifestyle and that of the charter clients who’ve enjoyed their yachts over the years. Inside, Perle Bleue has three guest suites besides the owner’s suite and accommodations for eight crewmembers.
Look for her to make her North American debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October. She’ll be making her way across the Atlantic on her own bottom.
