I’ve never been one to chase a tiny white ball on a vast green carpet of grass. Despite lessons years ago, the skills just never developed. But, I wholeheartedly support having a good time for a good cause. That’s why I encourage those of you who are going to be in Europe in mid-October (or who want a good excuse to go) to sign up for the Pinmar Yachtsman’s Golf Tournament.
Being held October 18 to 20 in beautiful Mallorca, the tourney, cosponsored by Awlgrip, is an annual event. In fact, it’s now in its 19th year. It regularly attracts dozens of teams. Megayacht crews, representatives from yacht-brokerage houses, insurance and finance specialists, and more all attend. And, it’s all in the name of charity–or should I say charities, since three will receive checks this year. As has been the practice in previous years, funds will go to the Mallorcan sail-training program Joves Navegants as well as Encompass, which promotes tolerance and understanding of different cultures and backgrounds. A third charity, Alimentar Ensenado, which aids impoverished children in Argentina, will also benefit.
