By now many of you have probably seen the Kate Hudson-Matthew McConaughey flick Fool’s Gold. Even if you haven’t, if you’ve seen the commercials, you’ll recall several scenes take place aboard a megayacht.
That yacht is Keri Lee, launched by Richmond Yachts. The 138-footer calls Australian waters home, and filming really did take place onboard Down Under, not on a studio set built to mimic the trideck charter yacht’s alfresco and interior areas. (Never mind that the movie takes place in the Florida Keys; that’s Hollywood, folks.) Naturally Richmond and Keri Lee’s owner have each benefitted from the publicity, the former through inquiries about new-build slots and brokerage yachts, and the latter through requests to charter her.
If you miss out on a charter (her rates start at $120,000 per week), don’t fret. You can own a near-sistership, the 142-foot Status Quo. Richmond is offering her for sale for $24.6 million. You can even preview her carefully crafted woodwork, her alfresco areas, and her smart technical features (such as an automatically deploying wing station off the pilothouse) here, in this video I shot at the Yacht & Brokerage Show last month.
