The last day of February marked a first: the launch of CBI Navi’s first motoryacht of the year. The all-aluminum Aifos entered the water outside of the Fipa Group shipyard in Viareggio, Italy.
Part of the CBI 50 series, Aifos measures 49.8 meters (163 feet), with a beam of 9 meters (29 feet). Because she employs a planing hull, draft is a shallow 2.3 meters (7 feet). That’s sure to be appreciated if the megayacht explores islands like the Bahamas with either her owner’s party of 12 or charter guests. Also sure to be appreciated if guests onboard want to go harbor-hopping, regardless of where the yacht cruises: the expected 24-knot top end and 21-knot cruise speed. Power comes courtesy of twin 4,200-hp MTU 16V 4000 M93 diesels.
Graced with a dark hull, Aifos bears the naval architecture expertise of Studio Vafiadis and Hydro Tec. Of course, CBI Navi’s in-house department contributed as well. Inside, five guest staterooms are in the traditional location below decks, while the master suite is on the upper deck. The latter has a private alfresco area, too. Also on the upper deck: a gym and private theater, featuring a 60-inch plasma TV for a more cinematic experience. To maximize outdoor enjoyment, Aifos has a beach club, Jacuzzi-equipped sundeck, and aft-deck lounge/bar.
Enjoy this slideshow, showing the movement of Aifos from her build shed to the water’s edge for her christening.
