The 164-foot (50-meter) megayacht Arianna is nearing completion at Delta Marine, bearing resourceful engineering and aesthetic details.
When the Polynesian-themed 164 was announced last year, Delta indicated she’d achieve some notable engineering accomplishments. All would be executed by its in-house team, the Delta Design Group. One of the most significant was volume. Arianna’s displacement exceeds 780 gross tons ITC. (ITC stands for the International Tonnage Convention, which provides a different way to measure gross tons than the U.S. system and is considered to be a more accurate depiction of a vessel’s volume.) Delta says the full-displacement, all-fiberglass megayacht has more volume than any other similar-size yacht. Indeed, most builders with same-size, all-fiberglass yachts keep displacement below 500 gross tons ITC.
Another interesting technical achievement aboard Arianna is the float-in tender garage. Sure, another tender is on the sundeck, but the float-in garage is something rarely seen. And the megayachts that do feature it are typically far larger than Arianna.
Not lost in the engineering emphasis is Arianna’s interior design. Picture woven leather, blown-glass lighting, natural stone, and more all reflecting Balinese influences. Macassar ebony, wenge, and koa paneling provide a rich backdrop. Then there’s the owner’s suite on the upper deck. Since Arianna is a family yacht, the suite includes a room dedicated to kids and other relatives. The suite further includes a private saloon, dining area, and private alfresco area. Everyone gets use of a sauna within the gym forward on the main deck, plus the variety of lounging and dining spaces throughout the rest of the decks. All told, Arianna offers more than 7,500 square feet of relaxation space, within a 34-foot beam.
Arianna will be available for charter later this summer. She’ll further make her boat-show debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October.
