Some Italian superyacht builders are known for playing famous arias at their launches. Well, if the launch of Amels’ Sea Rhapsody is any indication, the proverbial gauntlet has been thrown. She was serenaded by a choir—standing on deck, with music from a live orchestra no less.
The moment, on April 20, surely made the 214’9” (65.5-meter) megayacht seem all the more impressive. And it’s surely one that Sea Rhapsody’s owners, who have since taken delivery, will never forget. It was made all the more memorable by the attendance of 600 people. They included representatives from Amels, of course, but also exterior stylist Tim Heywood and interior designer Andrew Winch.
As the photo here shows, Sea Rhapsody was also the centerpiece of theatrical lighting. And, in keeping with the theatrical theme, the guests in Amels’ build hall watched a video chronicling Sea Rhapsody’s construction. The choir took over after the film ended.
Bearing a beam of 38’10” (11.88 meters), Sea Rhapsody has accommodations for 14 total in the owners’ party, plus 16 crewmembers and the captain. Her decor incorporates Asian-themed elements, from relaxation areas like the skylounge and saloon to the staterooms, including a second full-beam master.
