The Ferretti Group, parent company of Ferretti Yachts and CRN, has rebranded its Custom Line and CRN Navetta divisions so that they are now under the Ferretti Yachts brand.
The rebranding stems from one central idea. Ferretti Yachts dates back to 1968, when Norberto Ferretti established a boatbuilding operation with his brother in Italy. Both the Custom Line and Navetta brands were borne out of it within the past decade. While each has found a client base, the Ferretti Group believes the megayacht models within the those brands will be better served and strengthened if they are aligned with the more famous and even more historic Ferretti Yachts. (If you doubt Ferretti Yachts is historic, consider this: The Ferretti brothers sold their first yacht built under their name, a motorsailer, within one year of initiating construction, then switched to motoryacht construction quite successfully a few years after that.)
The move makes further sense for both Custom Line and the Navetta series. Custom Line was created in 1996 as a custom, planing-megayacht extension of the Ferretti Yachts brand, to keep buyers in the family. Most Ferrettis at the time were in the 60-foot-and-under size range. Interesting enough, Custom Line started being referred to as Ferretti Custom Line a little over a year ago, but no formal restructuring had taken place until now. As for the Navettas, they fit better under the Ferretti Yachts name because they’re made of fiberglass, not aluminum or steel, which are the materials of choice for all CRNs. Initially, because the LOAs (the smallest is 85 feet, or 26 meters) exceeded that of the capacity of the Ferretti Yachts facility, the semi-displacement Navettas were built at CRN’s facility. They were initially all called CRN Navettas, though more recent delivered started being branded as Custom Line Navettas. Regardless, they will now be Ferretti Navetta models. And, they will continue to allow buyers customization of non-structural areas.
The new architecture of the Ferretti Yachts brand therefore incorporates the following megayacht models:
- Ferretti Yachts 800 (available with two layouts)
- Ferretti Yachts Altura 840
- Ferretti Yachts 870 (available with two layouts)
- Ferretti Yachts 960 (pictured at top, which just premiered at the Cannes Boat Show)
