The owners of Mondango 3, repeat customers of Alloy Yachts, saw their newest sailing superyacht hit the water last week.
Known initially by her hull number, AY46, Mondango 3 measures 185 feet (56.4 meters) and has a beam of 36 feet (11 meters). The 525-ton megayacht further has a swing lift centerboard. That in turn makes draft range from 13 feet to 36 feet (4 meters to 11 meters), giving the owners some good cruising options. No doubt they already have several itineraries planned. The megayacht’s predecessor was designed to stay out to sea on extended travels, after all. And, that same yacht had put more than 55,000 nautical miles under her hull by the time Mondango 3 started construction in 2011.
Mondango 3 is about 15 feet larger and about two feet beamier than her predecessor, which was also built by Alloy in 2008. The same design team, that being naval-architecture firm Dubois Naval Architects and interior-design firm Reymond Langton Design, were involved this time, too.
The additional space aboard Mondango 3 is put to good use in a few ways, including a two-boat tender garage. A crew of nine will handle these and other operations. The accommodations for 11 in the owner’s party benefit from the extra room, too. Mondango 3 has two queen staterooms and two twins (one with a pullman berth) accompanying the master suite.
Look for Mondango 3 to be delivered in early 2014.
