Last Saturday saw two megayachts christened at Palumbo Shipyards, builder of Columbus Yachts. One was hull #2 in its Sport Hybrid 40M series, while the other was a Columbus Classic 57M.
The Columbus Classic 57M had not been publicized by the yard until now. The video below, taken during the christening ceremony, gives ever-so-brief glimpses at her style. The fully custom, steel-hulled yacht may bear some styling similarities to Prima. Columbus Yachts says that the Columbus Classic 57M is part of the same lineup inaugurated by Prima, completed in 2011. We should all be able to get a better look at her at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show, where she’ll debut. For now, Columbus Yachts says her interior combines woods, marbles, and mirrored surfaces. Hydro Tec, responsible for her design, says the owner requested several challenging features, including five decks.
Striking quite a contrasting style to the Columbus Classic 57M, the Sport Hybrid 40M is a plumb-bow project. She’s all aluminum, outfitted with diesel-electric propulsion for more eco-minded operations. This is the same setup as hull number one. This second Sport Hybrid 40M further incorporates fold-down balconies, a beach club, and a modern decor. She’ll debut at the Monaco show alongside the Columbus Classic 57M.
