A few weeks ago, we told you about the OceaNemo 44, a concept which Ocea Yachts and Fulvio di Simoni jointly created to fill a growing niche in yachting. That niche: adventure cruising. It’s why the project is termed a Sport Utility Yacht by the person who brought them together for this project. He’s Aldo Manna, founder and CEO of MC Yacht & Co., a brokerage and management firm. Manna is now elaborating on the inspiration behind the OceaNemo 44, as is di Simoni.
“Owners of 100-plus-feet vessels are living (on) their boats as luxury hotels, pampered with all comforts,” Manna says, “nevertheless somehow slightly bored (with) the way they stay onboard. Even when they drop anchor in a beautiful bay, they often perceive the lack of contact with the sea and few chances of spending time doing all those activities which made them love yachts.” Manna therefore determined there must be a way to strengthen the connection. The OceaNemo 44 is his solution. She’s equipped with abundant watertoys for a variety of experiences.
Indeed, de Simoni designed the 144-footer (44-meter) with a full-beam garage. Tucked inside are a guest tender, a crew tender, several PWCs, a boat for wakeboarding, and related gear. The guest tender can be up to 26 feet LOA, too, a significant size for the OceaNemo 44’s LOA. Stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, SeaBobs… all these and more can go here, too. That’s not all, though. Up on a raised level between the main and upper decks, you get a choice of “toy.” The OceaNemo 44 can stow a personal sub, sailboat, or speedboat here. And, di Simoni says the megayacht can accommodate “all kinds of ‘over the railing’” amusements, like climbing walls and slides.
Neither Manna nor his build and design partners are forgetting about creature comforts. The OceaNemo 44 has a suggested general arrangement that should please potential owners. The beach club, for instance, comprises 269 square feet (25 square meters). A nearly as large pool (fresh- or seawater) pool is aboard, too, along with accommodations for 10. Naturally, the layout will be customized.
The OceaNemo 44 is just the first of several Sport Utility Yachts. Plans are underway for a series from 125 to 213 feet (38 to 65 meters).
