UPDATE, MARCH 25, 2016: Here’s a look at the Amels 242 during sea trials, which were conducted this week:
The Amels 242 (the yard is still withholding her name) is set for delivery in April. Read on for our original story on the megayacht’s launch.
Amels has shared a sneak peek of its first Amels 242 on social media.
As you may recall, the Amels 242 is the largest model thus far in the shipyard’s Limited Editions series. She features styling by Tim Heywood, who has styled the other Limited Editions offerings as well. Interior design for this project is by Andrew Winch Designs. http://www.andrew-winch-designs.co.uk Amels lets you arrange the interior as you wish. While it hasn’t revealed full details for this megayacht, there are a few things set. These include an entire owner’s deck, comprising 2,583 square feet (242 square meters). The owner’s deck additionally features an alfresco area forward, for lounging and taking in the view. No megayacht of this size is complete without a beach club. To that end, the Amels 242 has one, but amidships rather than aft. It’s still full beam, of course: 40 feet (12.25 meters). Two Very Important Guests get staterooms on the main deck, too. Eighteen crew are additionally accommodated aboard.
The photo that Amels shared, repeated below in its original format from Twitter, shows the Amels 242 that’s being delivered later this year. She’s referred to as project Freefall for now. To put the megayacht into better perspective, consider this: The Amels 242 will have an impressive 1,725-gross-ton volume.
