Mega-size megayachts often are secretive not just in build, but also well after delivery occurs. Not so in the case of Dilbar. Lürssen, which handed her over last month, has finally been permitted to comment on the design and construction. The yard is doing more than commenting, actually. It has released a time-lapse look at the four-year build.
First, some statistics:
- Dilbar measures 511’8” (156 meters). This makes her the fourth-largest megayacht in the world in terms of length. However, she’s the number-one megayacht in terms of volume. Gross tonnage: a whopping 15,971.
- She features a pool with 6,357 cubic feet (180 cubic meters) of water. And did we mention this pool is inside the vessel? Lürssen says it’s the largest indoor pool aboard a yacht.
- Overall, 40,903 square feet (3,800 square meters) of relaxation space are at the owner’s and guests’ disposal.
- The diesel-electric propulsion system permits a reported 22½-knot continuous speed. Power output of the system: 40,231 hp (30,000 kW).
- Lürssen laid more than 683 miles (1,100 kilometers) of cabling.
- Lürssen also faired and painted 107,639 square feet (10,000 square meters) of exterior surfaces.
- Dilbar represents another mega-size megayacht from the duo of Lürssen and Espen Øino.
One disappointment, though: no peeks at the interior by Andrew Winch Designs. All Lürssen will say is that it blends “rare and striking materials.” Regardless, it’s surely impressive, given the 77-foot (23.5-meter) beam. Also impressive: the creamy-colored exterior highlighted with bronze.
No matter that the owner is still keeping the decor a treat solely for himself and his guests. This time-lapse look at her 52-month build is still pretty cool.
