Though she debuted five years ago, Ariadna has registered barely a mention among yachting websites and magazines due to her owner’s desire to enjoy private time. Now that she’s for sale, we’re getting a sense of what the seagoing experience is like.
Ariadna, a central listing of Imperial Yachts and in its display at the Monaco Yacht Show this week, is part of the Heesen 47 Meter series. (LOA: 153 feet.) She is the seventh member of the series, in fact. Like her sisterships, she sees a 12-knot cruise and accommodates 12 guests, plus 10 crew. Where she sets herself apart is her layout and interior design.
It’s common to see an owner’s deck aboard megayachts of varying sizes. It’s unusual to see two master cabins, however. The owner reserved the aft portion of the bridge deck as a truly private retreat. The bedroom (above) opens out onto an alfresco area. A TV folds down out here, for a special cinema-like atmosphere. If work calls, an office in the suite, spanning the 29-foot (8.5-meter) beam, comes into use. The walk-in wardrobe can hold everything from beach wear to evening attire, too.
Ariadna has a VIP stateroom on the main deck that could be mistaken for the master. It’s full beam and has an office, too. Additional staterooms are below decks in traditional fashion. They comprise three doubles and a twin.
In terms of decor, Ariadna draws inspiration from the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Moscow. Omega Architects worked with the owner to interpret the looks. Silk panels flow along the circular stairway that connects all of Ariadna’s decks. Rich textures and tones abound in the saloon, dining area, and more. She is a yacht made for entertaining, too, so while there’s a formal air, it’s not overly so.
One of the best areas for entertaining is the sundeck. Ariadna has dining for 10 up here, plus a bar to keep drinks flowing. The center of attention is the hot tub and its two waterfalls (above). Between this and the wide assortment of toys in the garage, guests remain engaged. Speaking of the toys, last winter Ariadna received new soot burners for her gensets. This keeps the water around her cleaner.
