Gone are the days of surfers sitting on their boards searching for the perfect wave. Radinn puts the power in your hands, literally. Plus, it lets you zip around at nearly 40 mph—no doubt with an ear-to-ear grin on your face. It’s thanks to the company’s newest toy, the Radinn G2X electric surfboard.
Radinn (short for “radical innovation”) is a Swedish company and relatively new to watersports. Even at just five years old, however, it made quite a splash (no pun intended) in entering the market. Radinn is the creator of the Wakejet Cruise, the electric wakeboard that several superyacht owners and guests love to ride.
The G2X picks up where that toy leaves off. Introduced three years ago, the Wakejet Cruise had a wireless, waterproof, handheld remote. It was capable of speeds to 28 mph (45 kph), too. Similarly, the Radinn G2X has a handheld remote, but it’s a more powerful toy. It can top out at 36 mph (58 kph). In addition, it offers a higher capacity battery pack. With the 9.5-kW standard battery pack, you can reportedly go full speed for 25 minutes. Add the 12-kW power pack XL, and the time increases to about 45 minutes. (This, of course, depends on the rider’s body weight and the sea conditions.)
Regardless of whether you go for the standard or, as Radinn calls it, the radical package, the G2X comes with a charger and a stowage bag. When the battery is on the charger, the company says it’s easy to put back into the board. In terms of riding, the handheld remote lets you set your speed to your comfort level. A strip of lights along the side of the remote further alerts you to how much juice the battery has left. Finally, for those of you who have so much fun that you lose track of time, the remote will even start vibrating to alert you it’s time to head back.
Available in both white and black, the super-silent Radinn G2X starts at €9,900 (excluding VAT).
