Customers asked, so Johnson Yachts is delivering. While it’s providing the briefest of glimpse at this point, the builder has a new flagship, the Johnson 115, ready for construction. The new model fulfills requests for more space.
Specifically, according to Andy Huang, Johnson Yachts’ president, “In recent years, we’ve been getting quite a few inquiries about building trideck superyachts.” The largest current model the yard has, the Johnson 93, is two decks.
Besides adding a deck, the Johnson 115 has her own hull design, from Dixon Yacht Design. The same naval-architecture studio is responsible for the 93, so it understands customers’ cruising habits and desires to step up in size. It also understands the general desire for maximizing interior space. Therefore, the Johnson 115 has a nearly vertical bow.
As is the shipyard’s tradition, the Johnson 115 will afford buyers a few choices inside. For instance, you can have either five or six total staterooms. You can additionally outfit areas from the staterooms to the skylounge as you wish. Johnson Yachts is collaborating with Design Unlimited, known for its large-superyacht interiors, for the general arrangement and decor. So, if you enjoy entertaining from day into night, you can have a beach club directly off the transom. This won’t impede tender stowage, thankfully. That’s because the Johnson 115 has a dedicated garage just forward of the beach club. It can hold a tender to 18 feet (5.5 meters) LOA.
If you like multiple toys, you’re in luck. The swim platform can hold yet another tender, up to 16 feet (5 meters) long. The swim platform is further hydraulic, to make launching and retrieval simpler. It also makes climbing in and out of the water easier for swimmers.
Still on the subject of being outside, take advantage of different arrangements for the foredeck. The Johnson 115 can devote the area to sunning, for example. The megayacht can also welcome your friends and family for cocktails, inviting them to gather around a big seating area. Johnson Yachts and Dixon Yacht Design designed it much like those of much larger megayachts.
More details about the new flagship should come as the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show approaches. Johnson Yachts intends to have information and drawings on hand there, too.
