Imagine an opportunity to commission a yacht where 80 percent of the engineering is already done. Yet, you still have full input into everything from length to styling and interior design. Indeed, aluminum cutting awaits your extensive involvement. Pura, a design platform from Royal Huisman and Frers Design, makes it possible. All the while, Pura accommodates an owner’s party of eight.
Not every owner wants to get involved in technical details, so Pura suits that well. Together, Frers Design and Royal Huisman have determined the sail plan, hull form, propulsion, hotel load, even security systems. They’ve even gone so far as to anticipate how you’d like to use the yacht. Regatta racer? A lifting keel, performance boom, and more are available. Do you want to globetrot? Pura can have a retractable stern thruster, extra suitable electronics, and a hydraulic telescoping passerelle for marinas. If you’re more eco-minded, batteries can handle nighttime hotel loads, ensuring silent sleeping, too. Pura further can have a shaft generator, for a hybrid propulsion system.
Pura starts with the above-mentioned core engineering platform to save time and costs. That platform, however, doesn’t restrict your style choices or onboard comfort. Classic, retro, and modern styling (left to right at top) are all available. So, too, is a variety of interior designs (see above and below for ideas). No matter what, you still get four staterooms for your party, plus accommodations for six crewmembers.
Also no matter what, you can choose a length between 125 and 141 feet (38 and 43 meters). A fixed keel or previously mentioned lifting keel is an additional choice, with a range of depths as well. Pura does, though, have a set beam, of 26 feet (8 meters). And, she’ll cover a lot of ground for you, an expected 2,650 nautical miles at 9 knots.
For peace of mind, Pura offers a dedicated technical engineer to educate you and your team on the anticipated maintenance schedule. That engineer can additionally provide guidance after delivery, remotely or in person.
