The explorer-style EXP line from Sanlorenzo has welcomed a new member to the family. Hull number two of the rugged-looking, stay-far-from-shore Sanlorenzo 500EXP series slipped into the water last week.
While this yacht’s dark paint job surely will catch your eye, the most characteristic aspect of the project is the long aft deck. The Sanlorenzo 500EXP pushes the superstructure forward to make more room for toys. In addition, a small helicopter can reportedly land back here.
While we don’t yet know what, or what size, toys she’ll carry, this 154-footer (47-meter) can also put them in her tender garage. The standard garage is large enough for a 23-footer (7-meter).
This emphasis on big spaces benefits leisure areas, too. Up to 12 in the owners’ party can stay aboard. Alfresco lounges cater to them on the upper decks, while a beach club and saloons do the trick inside. Since the 500EXP is a series, owners can choose general arrangements as well as interior designs that suit how they like to live. The beam of 31’5” (9.6 meters) means areas should look and feel spacious.
Furthermore, about 15,850 gallons (60,000 liters) of fuel and Caterpillar diesels means that the 500EXP can stay independent of shore for long periods. Unfortunately, Sanlorenzo has not said whether the owners of this new launch will spend months at a time onboard. Regardless, maybe they will be inspired by the owners of hull number one, which launched just last year. They have a world cruise in the works.
The 500EXP series is doing well overall so far. Around the model’s boat-show premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show last September, Sanlorenzo revealed that it had three more 500EXP contacts. One of them, of course, was this launch. Among the remaining contracts, one is for an owner who requested an ice-class hull.
