A 246-footer (75-meter) with a volume of approximately 1,900 gross tons is the newest, and largest, support yacht signed by Damen Shipyards. Equally noteworthy, the project will be the 17th Yacht Support handed over when her delivery date arrives.
Since the project is still new, and entirely custom, that delivery won’t take place until 2022. Regardless, the design draws largely on the YS 7512 platform. This is the top-of-the-line size offering in the Yacht Support range. She further has a 39-foot (12-meter beam).
The 17th Damen Yacht Support will be a proper megayacht in her own right. For instance, her owner has requested a full fairing and paint job. Accommodations will take care of 45 people, including guests, crew, and special staff. In addition, a helicopter will not only sit on a certified helipad, but also stow away in a hangar. Finally, of course, the project will carry a mini armada of tenders and specific gear for activities.
Details about accommodation configurations, relaxation areas, and other aspects are not available. Generally speaking, though, the YS 7512 model can feature a dining area, as well as a guest lounge. Also, 3,660 square feet (340 square meters) of deck space means big speedboats, limo tenders, personal submarines, and other craft can fit on deck. So can a custom crane for lifting hefty toys. The above-mentioned heli hangar allows for refueling as well as a workshop area. For customers who want to contribute to marine-conservation efforts when they travel to far-off, pristine environments, the craft can contain labs.
While we await this 17th Damen Yacht Support vessel, take a look back at Joy Rider, which launched earlier this summer. You can also visit Joy Rider at the Monaco Yacht Show later this month.
