Vincenzo Poerio, well-experienced in the superyacht sector, is now part of the management team at Tankoa Yachts. He is taking on the role as joint Chief Executive Officer, alongside Euro Contenti, who is also CEO.
Global yachting customers, particularly Americans, who comprise the largest percentage of yacht owners and buyers worldwide, surely recognize Poerio’s name. Until September 2018, he was the CEO of Benetti’s Megayacht Business Line. Poerio had been with the shipyard since 1993, too. He first served as general manager, gradually taking on the top position in 2011. During that 25-year period, the Italian shipyard gained a higher profile on the international yachting stage.
This in particular seems to be a primary reason why Tankoa Yachts brought him onboard. In fact, in announcing the appointment, Tankoa states that the shipyard’s focus is “to rank among the top players in the superyacht sector.”
Besides his work directly for yacht builders, Poerio has an academic background in naval engineering and technical construction. He cites his early years pursuing a career in the marine industry as an influencing factor behind his decision to join Tankoa Yachts. “It is difficult to stay away from our industry, so I decided to start over in Genoa, the city where I started my career about 38 years ago,” he says. He adds that he admires Tankoa being a “boutique shipyard” and “ambitious.” “I’m confident we can grow together to become a point of reference in the superyacht segment,” he concludes.
Currently, Tankoa Yachts is focused on finding customers for its new Next 70 series, which offers three different superstructure styles married to a proven hull form. Its most recent delivery, meanwhile, is Bintador, which premiered at last September’s Monaco Yacht Show.
