With summer nearly upon us, megayacht owners are heading to the Northeast and New England with their yachts to enjoy the season. Many of them will base their yachts in Newport, Rhode Island. Some may seek the northern shores of Long Island. Few, though, consider anything in between as an option. Bobby Christoph, the owner of Bridgeport Harbor Marina in Connecticut, is out to change that.
Bridgeport Harbor Marina beckons to big boats, capable of handling motoryachts and sailing yachts to 240 feet (76 meters). It sits on the shores of the city of Bridgeport, about 60 miles from New York City and 120 miles from Newport. A helipad on site as well as the marina’s proximity to the I-95 corridor makes it easy to reach. As you’ll learn in this episode of the Megayacht News Radio podcast series, Christoph and his team have a vested interest in the ongoing redevelopment of the city of Bridgeport, too.
In fact, Christoph shares:
- How he and his father leveraged experience developing properties like Miami Beach Marina, Bahia Mar, and even Boston Yacht Haven for Bridgeport Harbor Marina
- What attracted them to this particular piece of property, and how the near-future plans include adding a hotel and residences
- How the upcoming Steelpointe Yacht & Charter Show, plus a fall boat show, are in the works—yet on a much more intimate scale than boat-show goers are accustomed to seeing and experiencing.
