July started off in a big way at Damen Yachting, with the imposing La Datcha, the first SeaXplorer 77, seeing daylight for the first time on Friday. She celebrated her official launch over the weekend, too.
A true expedition yacht, La Datcha bears naval architecture from the in-house team, and styling by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture. She should be able to stay away from shore-side services for 40 days straight. That holds true whether she is in tropical waters or ice-laden ones. In fact, La Datcha has the ability to cruise both the Artic and the Antarctic. This is due to meeting IMO Polar Code standards. The code requires stringent construction methods for safety, as well as to protect the sensitive ecosystems of these remote regions.

Totaling six decks, this 253-footer (77-meter) has other design features emphasizing seeing and appreciating so much more of the natural world than most people do. For instance, a cozy seating area forward on her sundeck is a great place to sit and spot whales. A three-person submarine allows exploring depths in, say, the Seychelles or Maldives, both of which are on her upcoming itinerary. Additionally, depth exploration comes courtesy of a dive center. Cold-weather fans will appreciate something the owner is really looking forward to doing, however. He enjoys heli-skiing, which partially explains the fully certified helipad onboard. La Datcha’s owner and guests can, of course, use the helicopter (two, actually) for generally fascinating sightseeing far inland from the yacht’s anchorage, too.
While the snow scooters, beachable tenders, and other toys are sure to put smiles on everyone’s faces, the interior decor will soothe their souls. Predominantly subdued hues of woods, stones, and more characterize the six staterooms, for example, as well as lounges and dining areas. Interiors are by Vasiliy Shprits.
The formal launch of La Datcha comes about a year after her technical launch. She still has final outfitting to complete, which should wrap up in several weeks. That brings her all the closer to making her eager charter guests even more excited. She’s booking periods in the Med in October, then globally next year, as part of the La Datcha Tinkoff Collection. Her weekly rate starts at €740,000 (about $830,000 at press time).
