Twelve years ago, Antoine Brugidou decided to build amphibious vehicles as capable in boat mode as they were in land mode. Iguana Yachts, his company, today counts customers from around the world, including megayacht owners. To appeal to buyers who enjoy wetting a line with friends, Iguana Yachts is creating the X Fisher. The boat is the newest addition to its X line.
Thirty feet (9.1 meters) in length, the X Fisher features the same carbon fiber construction and wide, all-terrain tracks as other Iguana Yachts models do. Those tracks, developed in house, deploy for use on dry, wet, or muddy beaches and even rocks. When you hit the water, the tracks disappear into the hull. The difference, however, is that the X Fisher started with the amenities important to avid anglers.
So, for instance, you’ll find rod holders to both sides. You’ll also find an insulated fishbox with a macerator. Iguana Yachts even incorporates a raised corner platform upon which you can stand. This is to improve your views out toward where the fish are biting. Additionally, the X Fisher has a summer galley and a saltwater shower. Seating-wise, you can take a total of 12 passengers, thanks to two helm and crew seats, dual seating forward of the helm, and a foldable seat aft.
Of course, for further practical needs, Iguana Yachts incorporates a good amount of stowage. It also makes a wiper optional for the windshield in the enclosed T top.
Because the powertrain comes from Iguana Yachts’ own team, it pledges that the X Fisher will get you out to the fishing grounds speedily. A 300-hp outboard should permit a top speed of 48 knots. On land, meanwhile, the craft should travel at 4.4 mph, regardless of the terrain being dry, muddy, or even sloped to a relatively steep 40 degrees.
