The third SeaXplorer from Amels and Damen Yachting has a quicker-than-usual delivery, since her hull was already in build. This means that the custom 190-foot (58-meter) SeaXplorer 58 will be out exploring the world in 2022, carrying about as many on- and off-road vehicles as watertoys, too.
The SeaXplorer series, of which Anawa became the first delivery in 2019, bears styling by Azure Naval Architects. Naval architecture and engineering is from Damen Yachting, based on the all-weather craft its various shipyards have been building for decades. Since the SeaXplorer series has attracted strong interest, her hull got the green light for go-ahead before this particular owner stepped in. The shorter delivery time held strong appeal for him, of course, as did the engineering concept, given his experience in cruising.
Furthermore, the ability to customize the SeaXplorer 58 was a big attraction. Clearly, the owner enjoys exploring both on and off the water, since he’s selected some unusual “toys.” For instance, he has a 37-foot (11.4-meter) performance sailboat—custom built, too—that will stow aboard. Additionally, two big multi-purpose tenders will be aboard, as will motorcycles, automobiles, and off-roading vehicles. “The experience is not just about amazing views,” comments Enrique Tintore, Damen Yachting’s SeaXplorer design manager.
Although, the views should be pretty enviable, since megayacht has an open lounge at her bow. It’s a signature feature, in fact. Also, the yacht has an open-air lounge beneath the helideck, featuring a bar, fold-down balconies, and infinity pool.
For the interior, the owner chose Design Unlimited. Specifics on the stones, fabrics, and woods are confidential. However, the shipyard does hint that the overall look and feel reflect the spirit of exploration. The spaces include a sky lounge with a dining area. Making the dining area even more special, accordion-like glass doors open it up to the hot tub just aft. This custom SeaXplorer 58 also has six staterooms for 12 passengers, plus accommodations for 15 crew as well as two expedition leaders.
Expeditions are definitely on the horizon. The SeaXplorer 58 can stay away from shore for 30 days, plus has an ice-class hull.
Construction is ongoing at Damen’s shipyard in Antalya, Turkey.
