The last day of May saw the joined hull and superstructure for Project Asia make its way under tow to Royal Hakvoort’s shipyard from its subcontractor.
The 200-foot (61-meter) megayacht, a.k.a. YN253, features naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design. Now in the outfitting stage, she’s gaining various systems, mechanicals, and of course her interior design. Once her twin Caterpillar main engines get installed, she should be capable of a cruising speed of 13 knots and a maximum speed just shy of 15 knots. Additionally, Project Asia should see a range of 3,800 nautical miles at 12 knots. Although her steel hull has a draft of about 11 feet (3.35 meters), making shallow waters unreachable, the world’s oceans and popular anchorages are still at her disposal.
The owners are collaborating with Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design to ensure the spaces for their party of 12 can enjoy interior and alfresco areas equally. For instance, workouts come with a view, since a gym is on the same deck as the wheelhouse. Seating is outside aft of the gym, too. Down below, a massage room, a hammam, and an entertainment area all lie off the beach club. The sundeck, meanwhile, offers the use of a pool and, of course, sunpads, along with a full bar and seating area, making it an all-day attraction.
Staterooms are particularly special aboard Project Asia. Very Important People have a full-beam VIP suite, further containing a seating area. (Beam is 38 feet/11.6 meters.) Meanwhile, eight more guests have staterooms below decks, while the owners get a private deck. They can invite friends and family to join them for meals at an alfresco dining area. For their own use, though, the have a study, and benefit from panoramic views from the sleeping area.
The move of the hull and superstructure comes six months after another major milestone for the shipyard, when it received its official Royal designation.
Project Asia should see delivery in 2024.
