The new REV series from Overmarine Group has turned a few heads, but it’s especially catching the attention of U.S. buyers. Hull number two in the Mangusta 104 REV series has sold to an American, just as the first hull did.
Hull number one, whose launch (below) took place in the spring, is currently on display at the Cannes Yachting Festival. The megayacht is the entry-level model in Mangusta’s famous maxi open series, which has new styling by Lobanov Design. Not surprisingly, the buyer of hull number two signed a contract because he’s a fan of the brand’s maxi opens. He’s not alone, either. Overmarine Group says it has built more than 300 of them over the past 35 years.
The Mangusta 104 REV has more muscular, sporty lines as well as plenty of wide glass to bring in natural light. In fact, floor-to-ceiling glass and skylights characterize the main deck. This owner plans to dedicate that interior area to a large lounge area, further rmoving dining outside. The master suite, VIP, and two additional guest cabins—one with Pullman berths—are all below decks. A 312-square-foot (29-square-meter) sunning, dining, and relaxation area stretches across the flying bridge. In fact, a barbecue and a bar will accompany a U-shaped settee and tables. The captain can take the helm up here, too.
Speaking of which, expect the Mangusta 104 REV to top out at a spirited 35 knots with twin MTUs and waterjets. Even at a 25-knot cruise, she’ll be capable of a 370-nautical-mile range, the shipyard says. Upon delivery in May 2022, the owner will enjoy the waters off Florida, the British Virgin Islands, and even the Great Lakes. Look for a tender up to 16 feet (5 meters) and a PWC to stow aboard, too.
