Among all the megayachts appearing at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) next week, one will be hard to miss. She’s the two-year-old Pink Shadow, with a colorful mermaid on one side of her bow and a pink octopus on the other. Moreover, she exemplifies what a support yacht can be.
The nearly 150-footer (45.6-meter) has stood out not just for being a colorful Damen Yacht Support craft. For two years, she has accompanied a sailing yacht, Pink Gin. Therefore, she marked a first for the shipyard as well as the yachting industry, since support yachts had only previously accompanied motoryachts.
At FLIBS in the Y.CO brokerage display, this support yacht has several differentiating features. For example, she has 1,292 square feet (120 square meters) of deck space. Naturally, you may want to keep a mini armada of toys—land or sea, or both—here. Helpfully, a 6.7-ton-capacity crane is on deck for that purpose. But, the deck alternatively can accommodate a helicopter, or cater to relaxation, workouts, or parties.
Another differentiating feature, Pink Shadow has both guest staterooms for six people and crew cabins for seven. This means the megayacht equally suits being a stand-alone adventurer or a shadow vessel. Additionally, all guest staterooms are on the main deck, convenient to the main saloon, for lounging or planning global voyages. As colorful as Pink Shadow is outside, she certainly is inside, as you’ll see in the gallery above. (Click on any of the images to launch a slideshow.)
Finally, and fittingly, this support yacht has long range. She should see 5,000 nautical miles, in fact, capable of accessing some shallower waters, too. Her draft is 8’9” (2.65 meters), better than some other yachts of her size. Ultimately, staying independent of shore for weeks at a time is possible.
Pink Shadow has an asking price of €14.9 million, VAT paid.
