When the owners of the newest Horizon FD90 begin cruising aboard, they’ll have something other Horizon owners don’t. The newly launched megayacht is the shipyard’s first to feature the JUNG system. It offers fingertip control of everything from lighting to music.
Automation systems like the one from JUNG have been aboard megayachts for many years. Of course, “smart” technology advances all the time. This particular automation system lets the owners transform the saloon into party mode (above), for instance. They and their crew can use their mobile phones or iPads strategically around the yacht to raise or lower window treatments, too. Air conditioning, audio, and lighting like the custom bronze fixture in the dining area (below) are at their control as well.
This latest Horizon FD90, which is hull 22, is just as custom as prior deliveries (including one where puppies join the owners). She shows off a mix of Art Deco and modern design touches throughout the interior. It’s evident even in the custom convertible coffee table on the main aft deck. Strips of bronze are inlaid in the table, which can raise and expand for alfresco dining. Materials like satin-finished walnut, black lacquer, and black glass figure prominently in the saloon and other relaxation areas. Those areas include the main-deck master stateroom, which also has smart glass in the en suite head, for privacy. They further include the four guest staterooms below decks. One of those cabins is a twin that converts to a VIP. The other three are all queens.
The detailed design extends elsewhere, too. In fact, a painted feature wall adjoins the floating stairway from the main deck to the skylounge and boat deck. Whether guests are watching TV in the skylounge or enjoying drinks outside at the bar, the FD90 lends privacy to them and the captain in the wheelhouse.
Hull 22 of the Horizon FD90 series still has the features that have attracted many customers previously. These include a cozy beach club with a bar, and a galley that can be open or closed to the main-deck leisure areas. Finally, the megayacht has accommodations for four crewmembers, all aft of the engine room.
Sea trials should confirm a top speed of just over 19 knots with twin MAN engines.
