Shipyards with strong design identities often don’t want to depart too much from their storied looks in introducing new models. However, it’s still important to try something fresh. The Pershing GTX Series does that. The first model, the Pershing GTX116, retains the family feel of the brand, while presenting a new styling direction.
The GTX Series joins the existing X Series, which includes the Pershing 8X. Pershing’s parent company, the Ferretti Group, calls the GTX a “cross” concept. Specifically, it considers her a blend of a sport fly, which is Pershing’s longstanding focus, and a cruiser offering close-to-the-sea experiences. In fact, the Group discovered that some Pershing customers still love the fast looks and equally fast performance, but want more family-focused amenities, too.
Measuring 115’6” (35.24 meters) with a beam of 25’3” (7.72 meters), the Pershing GTX116 opens up, quite literally, new ways to enjoy cruising. In fact, the megayacht boasts 1,776 square feet (165 square meters) of alfresco socializing, sunning, and sightseeing space. Most of it is aft, between the cockpit-like transom and main aft deck. Additionally, and quite unexpectedly, the transom bulkhead splits at its center to further open up usable space. The sections lift up and stow flush with the rest of the bulkhead, connecting the elongated swim platform to the lounging area. That swim platform has a fold-down swim ladder and step to make it easier for swimmers to enjoy the day as well.

The Pershing GTX116 similarly sets aside much of the flying bridge and foredeck to leisure. Up top, clients can have seating areas as well as sunning areas just aft of the helm. On the foredeck, meanwhile, a large hot tub comes together with benchseats to create a social spot.
Being a semi-custom superyacht, The GTX116 invites customers to personalize the interiors. Up to four guest staterooms accompany the full-beam master suite below decks. Although many megayachts in this size range do situate the master on the main deck, the main deck here remains devoted to daytime relaxation and dining. In fact, you can have a bar adjoining the dining area (above), just forward of the saloon. Pershing’s interior-design department offers a variety of Made in Italy furnishings and decorative elements as well.
Despite the dramatic styling changes, the Pershing GTX116 remains true to the spirited performance of all Pershings. The standard triple MAN engine package, with KaMeWa waterjets, should allow a top speed of 32½ knots. Cruising speed, meanwhile, should be 26½ knots. The draft of 4’8” (1.45 meters) means Bahamian waters and other shallow areas are within reach as well.
Hull number one is already under contract and in build, for an American client who enjoys Miami Beach.
