Following the success of the Azimut Grande Trideck, which has led to about half a dozen contracts so far, the Azimut Grande 26M and Grande 36M are joining the fold. Hull number one of each series is under construction already, for completion by late summer.
In keeping with the overall Grande philosophy, the two new yachts re-imagine space inside and out. This strengthens owners’ and guests’ emotional connection to the ocean. More specifically, the designs eliminate as many barriers as possible between the yacht and enjoying cruising.

In fact, the Azimut Grande 36M (top), a 118-footer, allows walking from the aft-most part of the upper deck straight to the bow lounge without steps. The deck stretches essentially the entire length of the megayacht, too, further atypical. Eliminating even more barriers, the sky lounge has sliding glass doors on three sides (above). When the aft doors remain open, guests can flow betwen the interior seating area to the glass hot tub all afternoon long. Of course, Azimut and interior designer Alberto Mancini of AM Yacht Design are working with customers to tailor the spaces to their liking. This includes making the indoor-outdoor area an informal dining spot instead of a lounge.
As for the 85-foot Azimut Grande 26M, it shows off a Sea View Terrace inspired by the Trideck’s same-named feature. Part of the transom folds down, allowing for yet another section to fold up in alignment with the aft deck (below). Ultimately, the terrace is up to you to use as you wish—say, as an expanded dining area, or more relaxation space. Regardless, once again, the semi-custom interior features the design work of Mancini, from the main-deck master to the four guest staterooms below.

Although Azimut is not yet releasing expected performance data, it is prioritizing reduced fuel consumption. Podded propulsion and carbon fiber superstructure construction should let the Grande 26M burn 20 percent less fuel than similar-size, traditionally powered motoryachts. The Grande 36M, meanwhile, employs the latest version of the D2P (Displacement to Planing) hull, which the Grande Trideck features. With a wavepiercer, it reportedly is up to 40 percent more efficient than hard-chine hulls at displacement speeds.
Both yachts will make their global premieres at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
