Despite it not yet being summer, wintertime this year can’t come soon enough for an American couple. They’re taking delivery of a Horizon FD100 during the season. Their yacht is hull number two in the series, but the first FD100 for U.S. customers.
The successful FD lineup comes in collaboration with Cor D. Rover and includes several models so far, such as the FD90 and FD80. Some existing Horizon customers switch from the yard’s more traditional motoryachts to the FD series particularly due to the volume. Others, meanwhile, are experienced cruisers coming to Horizon for the first time, also for the volume. The owners of this FD100 fall into that category. In fact, they liked how the volume lends itself well to entertaining multiple friends and family.
For instance, the megayacht—whose concept premiered at last year’s Fort Lauderdale boat show—is a five-stateroom yacht. This situates the master stateroom on the main deck and guest cabins, configurable as they see fit, below deck. Additionally, the Horizon FD100 can have a skylounge or an open flying bridge. These owners opted for the skylounge, which will likely be a major gathering area. It’s due to requesting an 85-inch TV within a hi-lo entertainment console. The console sits just aft of the wheelhouse, therefore lending more separation between and privacy for the owners’ party and crew at work. That’s not all within the skylounge, though. A curved bar plus a seating area with a hi-lo table, plus a handy dayhead, round out the amenities.
More entertainment space sits outside. Another big TV, this time a 65-incher, flips down electrically from overhead to port on the aft deck. The Horizon FD100 still has space here for a bar and two barstools, too. Unusually, the abundant hidden stowage includes space for a rod holder. And, while yet another bar is on the boat deck, the top deck is entirely for social time. The owners requested a dining area for 10, a convenient buffet, and a wetbar. Naturally, since it’s open, the deck also includes sunpads and seating, to take in the views.
Upon delivery, the owners plan to cruise the U.S. East Coast.
